Cafe Rossetti’s: The Second Time Around

I don’t often do a follow up post about restaurants that I have been to, but I can’t not write another short post about Cafe Rossetti’s in Winthrop. The small Italian restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites. While I have only been there twice, both times I have not only had the most amazing food, but the service has been amazing and I literally feel like family walking into Bob Rossetti’s restaurant. When my best friend Whitney and her boyfriend Steve were in from Maryland I knew that they would appreciate the down home Italian cooking that comes out of Bob’s kitchen.

Needless to say, Whitney and Steve LOVED it. I wasn’t surprised.

One thing to note about Rossetti’s is that the menu is huge, and to me, everything sounds delicious, so narrowing down what to have for dinner can be extremely difficult. What makes it even more difficult is that Rossetti’s also puts together  the most amazing list of specials. I feel like I don’t even need the menu because the specials always sound so tasty. This past time we went there was a soft shell crab appetizer (which I got) and a filet mignon flat bread (which we got.) Both appetizer specials were TO DIE FOR! Seriously, I’m not kidding.

So I didn’t take pictures of everything but the photo above is the filet mignon flat bread that also had mashed potatoes on it and such thinly sliced steak. The flatbread melted in my mouth … and was just as good the next day for breakfast!

During my first visit to Rossetti’s I had Bob surprise me with a main dish. This time, I went with an item on the menu that I eyed during my first visit. If you read my blog you know that I love lemony flavored things and have a weakness for artichokes. Enter chicken roasted peppers and artichoke hearts. However, being the difficult human being that I am, I decided I didn’t want chicken. It’s not that I don’t trust Bob to make a delicious chicken dish, it’s just that I feel like I cook chicken for myself all the time so I wanted to go with something. I asked our amazingly helpful and friendly waitress Anita if Bob could swap out the protein and surprise me. When the dish came to the table I was pleasantly surprised to find veal cutlets stuffed with prosciutto, instead of chicken, surrounded by homemade pasta, sauteed with roasted peppers, artichoke hears, and all topped with melted mozzarella cheese!

Now, I don’t want to show too much favoritism towards Rossetti’s so I might not be writing a third blog post, but I will tell you that if you haven’t been to Rossetti’s yet then I have no idea what you are waiting for. Cafe Rossetti’s (which is BYO by the way) is one of the best, most comfortable and consistent restaurants I have been to in a long time and I cannot recommend it enough!
